Aircraft 65-0608 operated with the 148th Fighter-Interceptor Group (FIG) of the Minnesota Air National Guard at Duluth International Airport. By 1984, the 148th FIG’s primary mission centered on air defense of the northern United States under the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) structure.
